Every year in Ukraine, the "Embroidery day" is celebrated. The holiday is traditionally celebrated on the third Thursday of May. The holiday is dedicated to our national clothing - Embroidery.

On this day, it is customary in Ukraine to replace everyday clothes with embroidery or supplement it with traditional embroidery.
Our ancestors considered embroidery to be festive clothes, not everyday. Also, embroidery was a talisman. Our ancestors believed that the ornament on the embroidery had protective properties.
The sleeves and collar of the shirt were decorated with embroidery so that it touched the body. It was believed that there should be no knots on the reverse side, as this could bring bad luck.
Depending on the region of Ukraine, ornaments on embroidered shirts may differ.
